Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave beginner guide

A clean, official-fact first start for the new Switch 2 tactical RPG. This page explains the setting, route structure, city prep, and battle vocabulary without inventing a walkthrough before it has been verified.

The setup

Fortune's Weave takes place in the Dagdan Empire, a prosperous land ruled by gods. Nintendo's launch overview says the demon god Balor returns, and the goddess Fortuna sends the heroes back toward the Heroic Games in Dagsion to change the future.

Good news for newcomers
Nintendo calls this an all-new adventure and explicitly says it is suitable for players new to Fire Emblem as well as longtime fans. You do not need a Three Houses recap to begin.

Pick a route safely

The Heroic Games winner receives one wish. Four heroes have individual storylines, and Nintendo says you may play them in any order and pause one to switch to another: Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda.

  • Cai: wants to save his imprisoned father.
  • Dietrich: searches for a stronger foe.
  • Theodora: pursues her homeland's long-held dream.
  • Leda: seeks revenge.

Choose the character premise that interests you; route order, exact lock points, romance implications, and completion estimates should be checked against an in-game save or a later verified guide.

Learn the battle language

This is turn-based tactical combat: unit position, range, enemy distance, matchups, and the location of other allies all matter. Familiar RPG layers include classes, weapons, magic, armor, and special attacks.

Blaze Arts are signature moves that cost HP. They fill the Blaze Gauge: its halfway point grants a power boost, while a full gauge triggers Burst, ending the bonus and halving the hero's maximum HP. The intended play is risk and reward, so read this gauge before taking a high-commitment turn.

Nintendo also confirms a limited turn-rewind option. Use it to test placement and threat ranges instead of treating every first attempt as permanent.

Use Dagsion between battles

Dagsion is not only a menu. Nintendo identifies several preparation activities: recruit allies around town, improve Blessings at temples, train at the training ground, and build friendship bonds at inns. Outside the city, the world map offers quests, resources, roaming enemies, and dungeons with loot.

A dependable early routine is: check available recruits, decide whether the next battle needs a new tool or a stronger existing unit, then take only the optional map activity that supports that plan.

What is not confirmed yet

Launch-week search demand includes recruitment conditions, class lists, romance, FPS, price, special editions, controller compatibility, and tier lists. This guide deliberately does not publish answers for those until they are supported by the game, Nintendo's regional store information, or careful cross-checking.
